Key benefits / Why convert JPG to PNG
Lossless Format
PNG stores images without lossy compression. Great for graphics, screenshots, logos, and images that need pixel-perfect clarity.
Transparency Support
PNG supports alpha transparency. Converting a JPG won't add transparency, but the PNG format enables it for future editing.
Better for Editing
PNG is preferred when you plan to re-edit, overlay, or composite images. No quality loss on each save.
Web & Development
Use PNGs for icons, UI elements, and images where sharp lines and crisp text matter most.

Technical notes (what to expect)
JPG images don't contain transparency data. Converting to PNG won't magically add a transparent background - but the PNG format is ready for transparency if you edit it later in a tool like Photoshop or Figma.
PNG files are typically larger than JPGs because PNG uses lossless compression. A 500KB JPG might become 1-3MB as a PNG. This is normal and expected - you're trading file size for quality preservation.
Some EXIF metadata (camera info, GPS data, orientation) from the original JPG may not transfer to the PNG. If you need metadata preserved, use a dedicated metadata tool after conversion.
Very large images (upto 100 MB) or batches of many files may hit browser memory limits. If conversion stalls, try fewer files at a time or use a device with more RAM. There's no server-side limit since everything runs locally.
Use cases / Examples
Convert product photos for catalog images that need crisp edges and no compression artifacts.
Turn screenshots saved as JPG into PNG to avoid compression artifacts in text and UI elements.
Convert images to PNG before creating transparent composites, icons, or overlays.
Use for graphic design workflows where repeated edits are expected without quality loss.

Convert NowFAQs - JPG To PNG Converter
Will my PNG be larger than the original JPG?
Usually yes for photographs β PNG is lossless, so file sizes are often bigger than JPGs. For simple graphics with large flat colors, PNG can be smaller.
Will converting JPG to PNG improve image quality?
No β conversion to PNG wonβt recover detail lost from the original JPG compression. PNG prevents further quality loss in future edits, though.
Can converting to PNG add transparency?
Not automatically. JPG files donβt contain alpha channels. To make parts transparent you must edit the PNG in a tool that supports alpha removal or background erasing.
Does this tool upload my images to your server?
No. Conversion happens in your browser (client-side). Your images are not uploaded or stored on our servers.
Why does Windows sometimes warn me after extracting the ZIP?
Windows SmartScreen may flag files downloaded from the internet. To reduce warnings ensure site uses HTTPS and filenames are sanitized; server-side generation also reduces flags. We sanitize names, but one-time Windows messages can still appear.
Are there limits on file size or number of files?
Limits depend on browser memory and device. Very large images (e.g., >20β50 MB each) or many high-res files may cause slowdowns. We suggest batch sizes that fit your device memory.
Can I convert GIFs/animated images with this tool?
This particular JPGβPNG converter handles static JPGs. Animated GIFs require specialized handling (extract frames) and will be offered on our GIF tools.
Is the ZIP safe? Why did my browser mark it βunsafeβ?
The ZIP itself is safe; browsers and OS sometimes mark programmatically created files. Use HTTPS and sanitized filenames. Alternatively, instruct users to extract and mark files safe if prompted.
Is the conversion lossless?
PNG output is lossless relative to the canvas export β but any data already lost in the original JPG cannot be recovered.
Does the tool preserve transparency if the JPG originally had alpha?
JPG does not support alpha; if you have images with transparency, theyβre usually PNG/WebP already. Converting JPG β PNG wonβt add alpha.
Why are my colors slightly different after conversion?
Color shifts can be caused by loss of ICC profiles or browser color management. For color-critical work, use an offline tool that preserves profiles.
